David and Mary Kidney
Removal Order 15th October 1768
from Desborough to Braybrooke

County of Northamptonshire  To wit.

To the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Desborough in the said County and to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Braybrooke in the sd County and to each and every of them.

UPON the Complaint of the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Desborough aforesaid in the said County of Northampton unto us whose Names are hereunto set and Seals affixed, being two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Northampton and one of us of the Quorum, that David Kidney and Mary his wife have come to inhabit in the said Parish of Desborough not having gained a legal Settlement there, nor produced any Certificate owning them to be settled elsewhere, and that the said David Kidney & Mary his Wife are likely to be chargeable to the said Parish of Desborough We the said Justices upon due Proof made hereof, as well upon the Examination of the said David Kidney upon Oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due Consideration had of the Premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful Settlement of them the said David & Mary Kidney is the said Parish of Braybrooke in the said County of Northampton

We do therefore require you the said Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Desborough or some, or one of you, to convey the said David & Mary Kidney from and out of your said Parish of Desborough to the said Parish of Braybrooke and them to deliver to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some, or one of them, together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof; And we do also hereby require you the said Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Braybrooke to receive and provide for them as Inhabitants of your Parish

Given under our Hands and Seals the 15th Day of October in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty eight.

Notes: This removal order followed an examination on the same date. The following April Braybrook supplied David with a settlement certificate which enabled him to return to (or remain in) Desborough.

David's father William had a settlement certificate from Rushton in 1741
