Jesus Hospital

Jesus Hospital was founded in 1586 by local benefactor Owen Ragsdale for the purpose of accommodating single, widowed, old men. In recent times it was converted into flats for married elderly people.

Principals:

• Robert Dexter, died 1763 and buried at Holy Trinity, Rothwell (source: gravestone)
• Samuel Jones, died 1889 and buried at Holy Trinity, Rothwell (source: 1881 census)
