Robert Marlow Sanders was born about 1870 at Wilbarston, the son of Edward Sanders and Selina Marlow.

Robert was first married in 1887 to Martha Elizabeth Wallis, with whom he had two sons.

His second wife was Clara Panter, the youngest known child of Thomas Panter and Mary Wilson. From the closeness of their dates of death it looks as if Robert and Clara may have died from a contagious illness.

Robert worked in the shoe trade and was involved in the cooperative movement, being on the general committee of the Desborough Industrial and Provident Co-operative Society and one of the compilers of the Jubilee Souvenir.
