Mr Lewis East by his Will has given 40 sixpenny Loaves of wholsom bread
yearly to be provided by & distributed at the discretion of the Minister &
Churchwardens for the time being amongst the industrious poor of this Parish
on Christmas Day & Trinity Sunday 20 on each of the said daies yearli
immediately after Divine service in the Morning in the Parish Church

The parish registers show Robert Dexter and Bartin Gutteridge to have been
churchwardens together in 1743, the year after the death of this
	Lewis East, so it
is assumed that the bequest was made by him rather than by his father, also
	named Lewis.
