William and Frances Coe
Removal Order 4th January 1808
from Desborough to Gilmorton in Leicestershire

County of Northampton

To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Desborough in the said County and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Gilmorton in the County of Leicester and to each and every of them.

UPON the Complaint of the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the Parish of Desborough aforesaid, in the said County of Northampton unto us, whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed, being two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Northampton and one of us of the quorum, that William Coe and Frances his Wife,  have come to inhabit in the said Parish of Desborough not having gained a legal settlement there, nor produced any certificate, owning them to be settled elsewhere, and that the said William Coe and Frances his wife are become chargeable to the said Parish of Desborough

We, the said Justices, upon due Proof made thereof, as well upon the examination of the said William Coe upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful settlement of them the said William Coe and Frances his Wife is in the said Parish of Gilmorton in the said County of Leicester

We do therefore require you the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Desborough or some, or one of you, to convey the said William Coe and Frances his wife from and out of your said Parish of Desborough to the said Parish of Gilmorton and them to deliver to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor there, or to some, or one of them, together with this our order, or a true copy thereof; and we do also hereby require you the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Gilmorton to receive and provide for them as inhabitants of your said Parish

William and Frances had a son William, born 11th June 1808 at Harborough in Leicester, baptised at the Wesleyan Chapel in Desborough 30th May 1809 and buried at St Giles a year later.

The removal order was entered on a printed form.
