John and Dinah Allen
Removal Order 18th January 1808
from Desborough to Maidwell
County of Northampton
To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of Desborough in the said County and to the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Maydwell in
the said County and to each and every of them.
UPON the Complaint of the churchwardens and overseers of the
poor
of the Parish of Desborough aforesaid, in the said County of
Northampton unto us, whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed,
being two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the
said County of Northampton and one of us of the quorum, that John
Allen and Dinah his Wife and Thomas their Son aged ten weeks have
come to inhabit in the said Parish of Desborough
not having gained a legal settlement there, nor produced any
certificate, owning them to be settled elsewhere, and that the said
John Allen Dinah his said Wife and Child are become chargeable to
the said Parish of Desborough
We, the said Justices, upon due Proof made thereof, as well upon
the examination of the said John Allen upon oath, as otherwise, and
likewise upon due consideration had of the premises, do adjudge the
same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful
settlement of them the said John Allen his said Wife and Child is in
the said Parish of Maydwell in the said County of Northampton
We do therefore require you the said churchwardens and overseers
of the poor of the said Parish of Desborough or some, or one of you,
to convey the said John Allen his said Wife and Child from and out
of your said Parish of Desborough to the said Parish of Maydwell and
them to deliver to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor
there, or to some, or one of them, together with this our order, or
a true copy thereof; and we do also hereby require you the said
churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said Parish of
Maydwell to receive and provide for them as inhabitants of your said
Parish
Given under our hands and seals the Eighteenth day of January in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight.

Notes:
John and Dinah had a daughter, Selena, born at Maidwell on
20th June 1809 who was baptised a few months later at the
Wesleyan Chapel in Desborough
The removal order was entered on a printed form.
