Edward & Jane Marlow
Removal Order 16th Mar 1824
from Desborough to Rothwell
County of Northampton To Wit.
To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Desborough in the said County, and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of
the Poor of the Parish of Rothwell otherwise Rowell in the
County of Northampton and to each and every of them.
UPON the complaint of the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the
Parish of Desborough aforesaid, in the said county of Northampton unto us,
whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed, being two of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace in and for the said county of Northampton and one of
us of the quorum, that
Edward Marlow and his wife Jane
have come to inhabit
in the said parish of Desborough not having gained a legal settlement
there, nor produced any certificate, owning them to be settled elsewhere,
and that the said Edward Marlow and his Wife Jane have become chargeable to
the said parish of Desborough We, the said Justices, upon due
proof made thereof, as well upon the examination of the said Edward Marlow
upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the
premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge that
the lawful settlement of them the said Edward Marlow and Jane his Wife is
in the said parish of Rothwell otherwise Rowell in the said county of
Northampton
We do therefore require you the said churchwardens and overseers of the
poor of the said parish of Desborough or some or one of you, or any proper
person or persons to be employed by you, to convey the said Edward Marlow
and his Wife Jane from and out of your said parish of Desborough to the said
parish of Rothwell otherwise Rowell and them to deliver to the churchwardens
and overseers of the poor there, or to some or one of them, together with
this our order, or a true copy thereof; and we do also hereby require you
the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said parish of
Rothwell otherwise Rowell to receive and provide for them as inhabitants of
your parish.
Given under our hands and seals the Sixteenth day of March in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four.
Note: It's possible that this is not linked to the correct Edward and
Jane Marlow, though it seems the most appropriate of the couples known.
