Removal Order 30th Apr 1822
from Desborough to Aldborough in Suffolk
County of Northampton To Wit.
To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Desborough in the said County, and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of
the Poor of the Parish of Aldborough in the
County of Suffolk and to each and every of them.
UPON the complaint of the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the
Parish of Desborough aforesaid, in the said county of Northampton unto us,
whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed, being two of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace in and for the said county of Northampton and one of
us of the quorum, that
James Tomkins the Bastard Son of Sarah Tomkins aged
seven years and upwards (who has not gained any Settlement in his own right)
hath come to inhabit
in the said parish of Desborough not having gained a legal settlement there,
nor produced any certificate, owning him to be settled elsewhere,
and that the said James Tomkins hath become chargeable to
the said parish of Desborough We, the said Justices, upon due
proof made thereof, as well upon the examination of the said Sarah Tomkins
upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the
premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge that
the lawful settlement of him the said James Tomkins is
in the said parish of Aldborough in the said county of Suffolk
We do therefore require you the said churchwardens and overseers of the
poor of the said parish of Desborough or some or one of you, or any proper
person or persons to be employed by you, to convey the said James Tomkins from and out of your said parish of Desborough to the said
parish of Aldborough and him to deliver to the churchwardens
and overseers of the poor there, or to some or one of them, together with
this our order, or a true copy thereof; and we do also hereby require you
the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said parish of
Aldborough to receive and provide for him as an inhabitant of
your parish.
Given under our hands and seals the thirtieth day of April in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.
