Removal Order 10th Aug 1824
from Desborough to Geddington
County of Northampton To Wit.
To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Desborough in the said County, and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of
the Poor of the Parish of Geddington in the
County of Northampton and to each and every of them.
UPON the complaint of the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the
Parish of Desborough aforesaid, in the said county of Northampton unto us,
whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed, being two of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace in and for the said county of Northampton and one of
us of the quorum, that
Elizabeth Swain single Woman
hath come to inhabit
in the said parish of Desborough not having gained a legal settlement
there, nor produced any certificate, owning them to be settled elsewhere,
and that the said Elizabeth Swain by being with Child hath become chargeable
to the said parish of Desborough
We, the said Justices, upon due proof made thereof, as well
upon the examination of the said Elizabeth Swain
upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the
premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge that
the lawful settlement of her the said Elizabeth Swain is in the said parish
of Geddington in the said county of
Northampton
We do therefore require you the said churchwardens and overseers of the
poor of the said parish of Desborough or some or one of you, or any proper
person or persons to be employed by you, to convey the said Elizabeth Swain from and out of your said parish of Desborough to the said
parish of Geddington and her to deliver to the churchwardens
and overseers of the poor there, or to some or one of them, together with
this our order, or a true copy thereof; and we do also hereby require you
the said churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the said parish of
Geddington to receive and provide for her as inhabitants of
your parish.
Given under our hands and seals the tenth day of August in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four.
