Settlement Certificate from Braybrook
15th October 1770
Northamptonshire, To wit.
WE the Church-wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Braybrook in the said County, do hereby
certify, own and acknowledge
John Tailby, Sarah his Wife and William their Son to be Inhabitants legally settled in the
said parish of Braybrook in the said County. In witness whereof we have hereunto
set our Hands and Seals, this fifteenth Day of October in the Tenth Year of the
Reign
of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender
of the Faith &c. and in the Year of our Lord 1770

To the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish
of Desborough in the County of
Northampton or to any,
or either of them.
WE whose Names are hereunto subscribed, two of his
Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Northampton
aforesaid, do allow of the above-written Certificate. And we do also
certify, that John West one of the Witnesses who attested the Execution of
the said Certificate, has made Oath before us that he did see the
Church-wardens and Overseers, whose Names and Seals are thereunto subscribed and set, severally sign and seal the
same, and that the Names of the said John West and of the said
Thomas Norman, whose Names are
subscribed, as Witnesses to the Execution of the said
Certificate, are respectively of their own proper Hand-writing.
Given under our Hands the fifteenth Day of October in the Year of
our Lord 1770.
