(By order of the Poor Law Commissioners for England and Wales, with
the sanction of the Board of Guardians of the Kettering Union, and
consent of the Parishioners of Desborough),
At the George Inn, Desborough, on Wednesday, the 28th day of
December, 1836, at four o'clock in the afternoon precisely, in the
following or such other Lots, and subject to such Conditions of Sale, as
will be then and there declared,
TWO FREEHOLD COTTAGES, adjoining each other, situate at the top of
Podock Lane in Desborough aforesaid, in the several tenures of
Samuel Nursey, and
William Page.
And all that range of Freehold Building, in Podock Lane, aforesaid,
possessing a good line of frontage, and comprising,
A Cottage in the tenure of
Thomas Wallis, with a piece of Garden
Ground as stumped out at the back thereof.
A range of Building, now used as a factory, and capable of containing
20 looms, in the tenure of
Mr. Riley, (subject to a building lease of 21
Years,) 17 of which are unexpired at an annual rent of £3.
And a Cottage adjoining, with a piece of garden ground as stumped out
at the back thereof, in the tenure of
John Tompkins.
Also two cottages, situate in Workhouse Yard, at the back of the
above described Factory, with garden ground, in the several tenures of
Samuel Coe, and Widow Slow.
And a substantial Messuage or Tenement, formerly used as the
Workhouse, with a garden as stumped out in Workhouse Yard; and a small
Building attached, and occupied as a separate dwelling, with garden as
fenced off adjoining the same.
The above Premises are well adapted for a manufactory, being inclosed
by a stone wall, or may be occupied as separate dwellings, each having
garden ground, and the use of an excellent well of water in the yard.
Also a Freehold Cottage, with a shop and Garden attached, situate in
Podock Lane aforesaid, in the tenure of
Edward Marlow.
Another Freehold Cottage adjoining, in the occupation of John Coe.
And three other Cottages, situate in a yard at the back of the last
described premises, in the several tenures of
William Jobson,
Hannah Long, and Mary Dawkins.
And two Freehold Cottages situate in the High Street, in Desborough
aforesaid, in the several tenures of
Robert Hulbert,
and Elizabeth
Marlow.
