John Panter, landlord of the Swan Inn
Licence application, 1899
KETTERING.
DIVISIONAL PETTY SESSIONS.
A Desborough Application.—Mr. Panter, landlord of the Swan Inn at
Desborough, applied for four occasional licences for the refreshment booth
located on the Desborough Cricket Ground.
—These applications have been acceded to during the cricket season, but
owing to the disorderly proceedings on Bank Holiday, when Rothwell and
Desborough were playing, Superintendent Andrews objected to the licence being
granted. There were men summoned before the Court that say for being drunk and
disorderly in the field on Bank Holiday.
—The Bench said they should not grant the first two applications. If the
behaviour was better the Bench might possibly grant the other applications
later, but they would make no promise.
