Inquest, 17th August 1899
SUDDEN DEATH.—Mr. Coroner Parker held an inquest on Thursday at the
Temperance Institute on Arnold Sanders, six years old and nine months,
who died somewhat suddenly on Wednesday morning.
—Dr. Gibbon said he was called to deceased about 10.55 on Wednesday
morning. From a post mortem he found the stomach greatly disturbed, and
the small intestines had passed through an abnormal opening, causing
strangulation.
—The father,
Robert Marlow Sanders, Rushden-road, Desborough, said deceased was
taken ill about 2 a.m. on Wednesday. He vomited and had pains in his
bowels. Witness made him some tea, got him downstairs, and afterwards
the lad went to sleep again.
—Clara Sanders,
deceased's stepmother, deposed to attending the lad. About 9.30 the
deceased got into bed, and ten minutes later witness found him
unconscious, and he died in a few minutes.
—Verdict: "Natural causes."
